Chaku is a newari sweet dish made from an extracted refined sugarcane juice, jaggery, ghee, and nuts. The mixture is cooked down until it is thick and forms solid when cooled. It is then either poured in round or rectangular shaped containers and taken out once hardened and then wrapped properly with a plastic or non-sticky wrapper.
It is mostly consumed by woman after giving birth or generally during winter season for the much energy and heat it provides to our body.
It is also used for creating many other sweets such as Sesame seeds laddu.
It is also one among other sweets that is the main sweet taken during the Magh Sankranti Day.
